Many children in our community are victims of abuse and neglect, and many more are at risk of the same fate. In 2008, 201 children died as a result of abuse or neglect in Florida, and 95 percent of those deaths were preventable. (State Child Abuse Death Review Committee) The Child Advocacy Center and Children’s Home Society of Florida focus on saving these children and their families.
We need your help! Our organizations rely on the generous support of our community to help more than 7,000 local children and families each year. Your organization can be part of the solution, by helping to further promote awareness and raise funding to help abused and neglected children.
We invite your organization to sponsor the Inaugural Gainesville Duck Derby event on Sunday, February
27, at Westside Park. The Gainesville Duck Derby will be a fun, family-friendly event guaranteed to be a
quackin’ good time! There will be entertainment for all ages, including games, food, Family Fun Run and 5K Ducky Dash and, of course, a rubber duck race!
All proceeds will go to support the Child Advocacy Center and Children’s Home Society of Florida’s
services. Committed to every child’s right to safety, these two worthy organizations need your help to make a difference in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable children.
